The Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn, the former German capital, is a unique venue for art and culture. It showcases artworks from all eras, in addition to hosting presentations on science, technology and other areas of knowledge. Recently it upgraded the Forum, an event room with seating for up to 550 persons, by equipping it with a professional modern 4K digital cinema solution. The room now optimally meets the prerequisites for projecting digital content in a wide range of formats and resolutions. Technicians of Kinoton’s Western German sales center installed a 4K digital cinema projection system with a brightness of 33,000 lumens, an ideal solution for large screens.

The Forum, which can accommodate up to 550 people and is used for congresses and symposi-ums, readings, dance and theatrical performances, festivals, film showings, and other events, was equipped by the Neuss-based Kinoton team with a high-brightness 4K digital cinema system that includes projection, data feed, and other components. The projection system is based on the large 1.38-inch 4K DLP Cinema® Series II chip technology from Texas Instruments and guarantees extremely precise color reproduction and brilliant contrast. 4K content is fed in via a 2/4K Dolby server system. All currently popular HFR formats are supported. For feeding and reproducing digital and analog audio content via the Forum’s own sound system, Kinoton installed an audio processor that also supports alternative sound sources. This step up to a state-of-the-art 4K digital cinema solution from Kinoton has enabled the Art and Exhibition Hall to project film material in full 4K resolution with excellent results. It had attached high priority to gaining this level of flexibility for a wide range of projection formats, backed by the best possible technical support with the Kinoton Cine Perfect concept.

The role of the Art and Exhibition Hall is to host exhibitions and events that showcase, both nationally and internationally, the open attitude to culture that plays such a central role in the identity of the Federal Republic of Germany. To date, it has held more than 220 exhibitions and countless concerts, readings, film programs, congresses, and other events, drawing a total of over 17 million visitors. In its own words, “what we want are systems that can be optimally integrated into our internal processes and fully exploit the innovative potential of these new technologies while also being characterized by extreme robustness and top quality.”
